Emma

Tell us a little bit about your journey so far as a beauty therapist?

Emma started her journey because of a comment made about her own nails. She was told by one of her friends, “You always paint your own nails really lovely; you should do other peoples.” This stuck with Emma, and she decided to act on it. After starting her first nail course she fell in love with it and never looked back.

Previously to her career in the Beauty Industry, Emma studied a Fine Art Degree where she developed her talent for art and design.

Emma jokes that she makes use of her Fine Art Degree to create tiny pieces of art on fingernails and toenails instead of huge canvases.

What is your favourite thing about your job?

Emma particularly enjoys nail art and using different products to create her designs. Bring her a photo of something you have seen, and she will relish the challenge to recreate it. She is also a self-proclaimed chatter box who thoroughly enjoys talking to lots of different people. No day is the same and no client is the same, which she appreciates and enjoys.

What is your favourite way to spend a day off?

Emma is an avid baker and loves to spend a day off in the kitchen, watch out Mary Berry! Currently, she is perfecting her Christmas cake. Another of her favourite bakes is the traditional brownie, however she is known for adapting and making her own variations. I’m sure this will make her very popular with the staff and clients at the Salon.

What is your bucket list location and why?

Emma would love to spend time in a glass igloo hotel room to watch the Northern lights. There is a beautiful example of this at Kakslauttanen.fi in Finland, should this be on your bucket list too?

What is your favourite tv series?

Emma really enjoys watching, what she classes as, cheesy old tv shows like The Saint and Colombo. She also loves a good murder mystery.

If money were no object, what would you do?

Emma would buy herself a house and “even more cats.” Emma has only two cats, but if money was no object she said, “You can always get more can’t you? There is no limit to the number of cats!”

What are the top three lessons you would teach your younger self?

1. Don’t worry so much
2. Go for it, don’t overthink it, trust your gut instinct
3. Don’t sell yourself short
