Steph
Tell us a little bit about your journey so far as a beauty therapist?
After finishing school Steph went to college to study woodwork, but later when she moved to Bracknell, she realised that this wasn’t the path she wanted to follow. Steph investigated taking Beauty at college, however the general course did not appeal so she handpicked the modules she was interested in and completed her training. Newly qualified, Steph decided to work with clients in the evenings and weekends whilst also having a full-time job. She quickly became too busy for the nine to five in addition to the evening beauty appointments. This was when she found the part time role with Ellie’s Beauty. And as Steph says, “It was perfect, the right place at the right time.”
What is your favourite thing about your job?
Steph clearly loves her job and said, “I never feel like I’m going to work. Previously, I have worked in hospitality jobs and have always enjoyed talking to people.” She also relishes the variety in her job. She said that “Even, if I do a whole day of Nails, essentially the same task, everyone’s hands are different, the client’s tastes are different in terms of colour, design and shape. The interaction with each person is different too, some want a quiet relaxing treatment whereas others love a chat.”
What is your favourite way to spend a day off?
Steph said that she loves being spontaneous and deciding to do something there and then. A lovely trip to the beach or an afternoon at soft play with her little boy. All she needs to do is get bits and pieces together and then out they go.
What is your bucket list location and why?
Steph took a moment to think about this one, and said,” I don’t have anywhere specific I would like to go, but maybe somewhere like Jamaica or the Dominican Republic.” Somewhere warm, laid back with beautiful coastal views. Sounds perfect.
What is your favourite tv series?
Hollyoaks, as she watches it every day over anything else. Who doesn’t love a good soap of an evening.
If money were no object, what would you do?
Buy a bigger House, travel around a bit. She would enjoy the freedom. Live in the moment and enjoy spontaneous trips, maybe somewhere a bit further afield.
What are the top three lessons you would teach your younger self?
1. Don’t worry about the small things
2. Just do it
3. It will be what it will be, Go with the flow.
